  SEAM Technical Advisory Groups

SEAM Technical Advisory Group Applications Now Open!

We are excited to announce the formation of the first SEAM Technical Advisory Group (TAG) and invite applications from experts passionate about advancing social equity in this sector. This inaugural TAG will focus on establishing crosswalks with other building certifications and reporting frameworks.

About the Crosswalks TAG

The primary role of this TAG is to develop crosswalks between SEAM and other prominent building certification standards. These crosswalks will facilitate recognition and integration of SEAM’s social equity criteria within other certification systems, thereby streamlining the certification process for projects aiming to meet multiple sustainability objectives.

Responsibilities

Crosswalks TAG members will be responsible for:

  1. Developing crosswalks: Create detailed mappings between SEAM and other building certifications to identify overlapping and complementary elements as well as recommendations for SEAM acceptance of these elements for SEAM credit.

  2. Developing reporting mapping: Create detailed mappings between SEAM and reporting frameworks to facilitate ease of reporting SEAM achievements.

  3. Collaboration: Engage with representatives from alternate building certification bodies to gain approval for SEAM credits, ensuring mutual recognition and validation.

  4. Criteria revision: Leverage deep technical knowledge to refine SEAM criteria, if necessary, to align with other standards (verbiage, labeling, etc).

Participation requirements

  1. Online meetings should be no less frequent than every other week for one hour.

  2. Individual or small group work outside of meetings to complete tasks and “sprints” developed in meetings.

  3. The bulk of this work will likely conclude within 6 months when the participation requirements will become less frequent. Ongoing work would seek to refine crosswalks for new certification versions, add new ones as required, or maintain strategic relationships with certification or reporting framework entities.

Desired Expertise

We seek individuals with expertise in the following areas:

  • Academia: Researchers and educators focusing on social equity, sustainability, or related fields.

  • Sustainability consulting: Professionals with experience in applying green building rating and certification systems or ESG reporting frameworks.

  • Architecture and design: Visionary architects and designers with experience integrating social equity into building projects.

  • Certification and reporting frameworks: Professionals or representatives of green building certification systems and sustainability reporting standards.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit their application below detailing their relevant experience and vision for integrating social equity into the built environment. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected members will be notified no later than June 30, 2024.
